Wyoming Interest Rate Laws

Interest rates in the state of Wyoming are dealt with in Section 40-14-106 of Article 1, Chapter 14 of Wyoming Statutes.  Pursuant to Section 40-14-106, the interest rate of money should be at the rate of seven percent (7 %) per annum, if there is no agreement or if there is a provision of law for a different rate.

According to Section 1-16-102 of Wyoming Statutes, any decree or judgment for the payment of money should bear interest at the rate of ten percent (10 %) per year from the date of rendition until paid.  If the decree or judgment is endowed on a contract and parties to the contract agreed to interest at a certain rate, then the decree or judgment should correspond to the terms of the contract, for the rate.  An installment for child support or maintenance which is unpaid on the due date, which becomes a judgment, should not bear any interest.

According to Section 40-14-121 of Wyoming Statutes, extensions of credit to government or governmental agencies or instrumentalities; credit sales; loans or leases for agricultural purposes are exempted from the usury limits.
